At KISH it is important to us that our clients are informed and understand what we do. The roof is the first line of defense against the elements such as rain, wind, snow, hail, and even trees. However, roofs do not last forever and over time the elements mentioned can wear down even the best Kentucky roofs. Damage to roofs manifest as visible damage to the shingles, roof deck, or even through leaks into the ceiling. Often times these damages can be repaired; however, when the damage is overwhelming and the pros outweigh the cons, it might be time for a roof replacement. 4 reasons to get a
Roof Inspection
1. Knowledge
Yearly roof inspections can save you money by making you aware of the current condition of your roof and preventative steps that can be taken to avoid expensive repairs
2. Prevention
When there are residential roofing leaks it can impact every aspect of a home. A leaking roof can lead to water damage to the inside ceiling and walls which will eventually turn to mold. It can cause wood in the roof underlayment and wall sheathing to rot; and it can even lead to electrical shorts.
3. Proper Drainage
Improper drainage of the gutters can lead to pooling on your roof, this can cause wood rot, leaks into your ceiling, and other costly repairs. Gutter guards are a great way to keep debris out and prevent poling
4. Protection From Pests
Holes in the roof, underlayment, and fascia can create an access for bugs, birds, squirrels and rodents which can turn into an infestation.

Residential Roofing Repair
Residential Roofing damage is not always visible to the naked eye. In fact, many roofing problems are missed by contractors and home owners who do not have proper training in damage inspection and repairs. KISH Pros roof repair experts undergo in-depth training to spot roof damage; this training includes a better understanding of the manufacturing, installation, and natural aging of shingles.
There are many situations that can lead to residential roofing repairs, the most common include leaks, weather wear, aging, hail, and wind damage. Sometimes repairs are also required a result of poor installation of the original roof or material defects. Although roof repair can be mitigated with proper care and regular roofing maintenance, it is normal for repairs to be needed throughout the life of a residential roof. When there is indication that a residential roof might need some repairs it is best to address is sooner rather than later as repairs can become more expensive over time if not addressed.
Residential Roofing replacement
There are several factors to determine when choosing between roof repairs or a full roof replacement: age of roof, damage to roof, cost of repair, owner’s goals.
When a roof nears the end of its lifetime, typically around 20 years, it might make more sense to invest in a full replacement than to repair the issue at hand only to replace it in a year or two. As a homeowner it is important to compare the extent of damage and cost associated with the repairs to the cost of a new roof. Though residential roofing repairs typically cost less than complete replacements, if you are paying for multiple repairs over the span of a few years, you might actually exceed the cost of an entire roof replacement, with a lot more headaches.
